I have a 60 inch psa 48#s @ 28 and I draw 28 inches. I’m shooting carbon express 250s at 30 inches and 610 grns (allot of weights in the front..my foc is 19 %. They fly like darts but worried they are too heavy.. Anyone shooting this heavy of an arrow??? I use the same arrow to hunt as well as 3d and always keep my max yards for a shot on a deer under 25…
When I was shooting a 50# PLV, I shot a total arrow weight of 635 grains. I shot the same arrow weight for hunting and 3D. On the 3D range, I didn’t have an issue with the weight unless the targets were further than 25 yards, and even then, the “drop” wasn’t too bad. I shoot the Senior class at most shoots now, and the max distance is 25yards (+/- a foot or two). I’m working up an arrow for my 42# PCH and the total arrow weight is coming out right at 12 grains per pound. You are right at 12.7 grains per pound. That will make for good penetration and a quiet bow. You should be just fine!
Heavy is good. Fast is good. Heavy & fast are GREAT!
How fast are they flying? I am going to guess about 150 fps. If you are shooting that set up and you like it, stick with it. That’s a devastating hunting set up. Might cause you some grief on the 3 D range on the longer targets though…
If you want to switch up for more speed, that bow will shoot the CE 150s and GT 500s just fine with 160 ish grains on the business end and save you 60 grains or so in finished arrow weight, giving you longer range and more consistent accuracy. Keep in mind CE has discontinued the Heritage series of shafting though. The GT 500s are more fragile and lighter but they will work.
